Meet NY Giant Super Bowl Winner at Woodbridge West Marine Sunday

WOODBRIDGE, NJ - We've written many times about the brand-new West Marine store at St. George's Crossing, but this weekend will be the store's grand opening celebration. And former New York Giants defensive tackle and Super Bowl champion Chris Canty will be at the store from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19 to sign autographs and meet with fans.

The Woodbridge West Marine is located at 893 Saint George Avenue at St. George Crossings Plaza (in what used to be the Golf Galaxy store), at the Shop Rite/PetSmart plaza at the intersection of Route 1/9 and Rt. 35. The prime location of the new store is meant to serve boaters and anglers who enjoy maritime pursuits in Raritan Bay and the waters off Sandy Hook. Saturday will be the ribbon cutting for the store, with Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac cutting the ribbon at 10 a.m.

The store opens at 8 a.m. on Mar. 18 and at 9 a.m. on Mar. 19. Some of West Marine’s hottest and most popular vendors will have an onsite presence over the weekend: Garmin, Maui Jim, East Penn, Raymarine, Boat U.S., Lowrance, Simrad, BoatUS and ACR.

And attention fishermen: The store will be raffling off the grand prize, a Simmrad GO5XSE, a pinch-to-zoom touchscreen fish finder/chart plotter that offers a wide range of functions and features (retail value $549.99), as well as a GoPro Hero Session camera (retail value $199.00). Additional raffle items include a Roxy/Quiksilver Performance Wetsuit, Reef Sandals, Gill Race Series Duffle Bag, $75 Visa gift cards and more. Bring the kids for coloring, a knot-tying activity, puzzle making and giveaways. In addition, guests will get a free beach bucket containing a West Marine Mystery Gift Card (limited to first 100 guests both days), as well a free copy of Hands on Sailor (while supplies last).

Guests who spend $100 or more in-store will receive a free magazine subscription gift. Choose from the following: Boating, Cruising World, Sailing World, Salt Water Sportsman and Sport Fishing magazines.

South Bronx, NY-based organization Rocking the Boat will be onsite at the store Sunday, Mar. 19 from 12-3 p.m. The organization empowers young people from the South Bronx to develop their self-confidence to set goals and gain the skills necessary to achieve them through boatbuilding, learning to row and sail, and helping restore local urban waterways.
