WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Yes, it's true: A new hotel is proposed to be built in Woodbridge.

A developer has this application before the Woodbridge Planning Board to build a four-story hotel at 927 West Kelly Street in Menlo Park Terrace.

The developer is DCD Capitol, LLC, represented by attorney Steven Tripp.

They propose building a four-story, 122-room extended-stay hotel at that site. There is currently Garden Farm Market, a farmers' market there. But it appears the farmers' market would be torn down, as the hotel application calls for the town to vacate all the existing structures on West Kelly Street.

The Woodbridge Planning Board will hear the application at their next meeting, scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. next Wednesday, Aug. 21 in the Council chambers of Woodbridge town hall.

Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac told Tap Into this week that an extended-stay hotel would be “one of the least intrusive uses in terms of traffic" in that neighborhood. Earlier this year, the Woodbridge town Council named that area the “West Kelly Street 2 Redevelopment Area, a designation that would make self-storage buildings, retailers, hotels, professional or medical offices, financial institutions, fitness centers and day care centers acceptable uses," Tap Into also reported.
