Woodbridge Hires 7 New Police Officers

This brings the ranks of the Woodbridge Police Dept. to a maximum staffing level of 225 sworn officers.

WOODBRIGDE, NJ — On Wednesday, Woodbridge Twp. swore in seven new police officers.

The new officers successfully completed the state-mandated six-month New Jersey Police Training Commission Academy and will take up patrol assignments in the Radio Patrol Division.

“We are pleased to announce the appointment of seven new police officers," said Mayor John McCormac. "The Woodbridge Police Department continues to maintain police ranks at a maximum staffing level of 225 sworn officers."

The seven newly appointed WPD Patrol Officers are:

WPD POLICE OFFICER NICHOLAS DEPINTO (Badge #744)

Officer Nicholas Depinto, 27, a Woodbridge Township resident, graduated from Old Bridge High School (Matawan) in 2015. Officer Depinto previously worked for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Woodbridge Community Center. Officer Depinto graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy earlier this month and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

WPD POLICE OFFICER JEREMY ARROYO (Badge #745)

Officer Jeremy Arroyo, 20, resides in the Port Reading section of Woodbridge Township and has lived in Woodbridge since 2008. Officer Arroyo is a 2021 graduate of Woodbridge High School and has earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Middlesex College. Officer Arroyo served as a Special 1 Officer with the Woodbridge Police Auxiliary prior to being hired as a Full-time WPD Patrol Officer. Officer Arroyo is a recent graduate of the Cape May County Police Academy and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

WPD POLICE OFFICER NICHOLAS SIMONE, III (Badge #746)

Officer Nicholas Simone, 21, a life-long resident of Woodbridge, currently resides in the Fords section of the Township. Officer Simone is a 2021 graduate of Woodbridge High School and went on to study history at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina. Officer Simone was previously a seasonal traffic maintenance worker with Woodbridge Township while attending college. Officer Simone’s Father is a retired Captain from the City of Perth Amboy Police Department. Officer Simone is a recent graduate of the Cape May County Police Academy and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

WPD POLICE OFFICER THOMAS BAUER (Badge #748)

Officer Thomas Bauer, 26, a life-long resident of Woodbridge, currently resides in the Fords section of the Township. Officer Bauer is a 2016 graduate of Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen and holds a Master’s Degree in Finance from William Paterson University. Officer Bauer was previously employed as an Accountant at Wakefern Food in Edison. Officer Bauer is the son of Howie Bauer, Second Ward Councilman and Chief of Fords Fire Company #1. Officer Bauer graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy earlier this month and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

WPD POLICE OFFICER MIKOLAJ JUCHA (Badge #749)

Officer Mikolaj Jucha, 22, a resident of Woodbridge since 2010, currently resides in the Colonia section of the Township. Officer Jucha is a 2019 graduate of Colonia High School and studied Criminal Justice at Middlesex College. Officer Jucha was previously employed as a Building Maintenance Manager in Jersey City. Officer Jucha graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

WPD POLICE OFFICER BRANDON SCHMITT (Badge #750)

Officer Brandon Schmitt, 21, stands as a life-long resident of Woodbridge Township. Officer Schmitt is a 2021 graduate of Woodbridge High School. Prior to being hired with the Woodbridge Police Department, Officer Schmitt was a 911 dispatcher for the Carteret Police Department. Officer Schmitt graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.

WPD POLICE OFFICER ZACHARY SCHNEIDER (Badge #751)

Officer Zachary Schneider, 24, a life-long resident of Woodbridge, currently resides in the Iselin section of the Township. Officer Schneider is a 2018 graduate of John F. Kennedy Memorial High School and attended Alvernia University in Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Officer Schneider was previously employed by PSE&G. Officer Schneider graduated from the Cape May County Police Academy in June and will take-up assignment in the Radio Patrol Division.
