NEW YORK — Starting next year, hotel rooms with more than 50 rooms will be barred from using shampoo bottles under 12 ounces after a bill was passed in the New York Assembly.

The enforcement begins on Jan. 1 2025 and hotels that break the rule will first receive a warning and have 30 days to correct it. If they fail to do so, they run the risk of being fined $250.

After another 30 days, a hotel could be fined $500, according to the Department of Environmental Conservation’s website.
