Alley Pond Environmental Center's <a href="https://www.alleypond.org/apecs-mid-autumn-festival.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Mid-Autumn Festival</a>&nbsp;will be on Saturday, September 14th in collaboration with Glow Cultural Center! Join us for a variety of programs, including bird walks, Chinese calligraphy, origami, and Chinese yo-yo performances. Make sure to preregister below! 
 
Participants of all ages can also join us for a Chinese Dance Performance from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm! Join versatile choreographer, teacher, and dancer Keith Shen and his dance group as they showcase a variety of classical Chinese Folk Dance styles. This hour-long performance will include many different rhythms, costumes, and music from Mongolia to Tibet, which make up the diverse cultural fabric of China. No preregistration is required for the dance performances, however, the seats are first-come, first-served and limited to the first 100 participants.

Bayside Historical Society

The Bayside Historical Society, celebrating its 60th anniversary, is holding a very special event to commemorate the 110th anniversary of "Bayside Day" on Saturday, September 14, 2pm-5pm,&nbsp;at The Castle in Fort Totten. Get ready for a fun afternoon of free activities including outdoor lawn games, kids games and crafts, and groovin' music from the 60's performed by Chicken Head Rocks! Inside the BHS Castle, explore historical photo exhibits of our beloved Bayside community and test your memory with Bayside trivia. There will be trivia prizes, books for sale, and food &amp; refreshments served in commemorative keepsake cups. This event is free for all!

The <a href="https://www.alleypond.org/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Alley Pond Environmental Center (APEC)</a> hosts educational programming and cultural events for toddlers through adults from northeastern Queens and the surrounding metropolitan area. One of their largest events for adults and families is a cozy concert held each autumn in the early evening. 
In celebration of our new building, APEC is inviting neighbors, friends, local businesses, and community members to an <a href="https://www.alleypond.org/welcome-autumn-fundraiser-concert-2024.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Autumn Concert</a> on Saturday, September 14 at 5 pm. The event will feature a performance from internationally recognized and locally grown folk-rock musicians, <a href="https://www.gathering-time.com/" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Gathering Time</a>, refreshments, and opportunity to walk the new facility and grounds. The musicians’ pieces are known for their incorporation of ‘60s and ‘70s classics and traditional folk into modern folk-rock tunes. WFUV's John Platt has written that they are “among the finest performers in the New York metropolitan area, whatever the size of the venue, from a house concert to an outdoor festival,” with “harmonies that can charm the birds out of the trees, strong original songs, and a savvy repertoire of cover songs, ranging from traditional folk to classic rock. They appeal to audiences of all ages.” Pre-registration is required where attendees can pay in advance to secure their spot at the event. All funds will be used to support APEC’s programming and operation! Down to Earth Cunningham Park Farmers Market

Kids are invited to join our free Power of Produce Club at the Cunningham Park Farmers Market. Each month we will offer a fun, free activity about fruits, vegetables, and healthy eating. Once POP Club members complete the activity they get a $2 token to spend on their favorite fruit or vegetable.
This month we will be asking kids to use stickers and drawings to illustrate their favorite meal (materials provided). How does it match up to the USDA "MyPlate" recommendations for making a balanced meal? Grab a worksheet and the market manager's tent&nbsp;and collect your $2 token!
Cunningham Park Farmers Market: Sundays, 9am-2pm in the parking lot off Union Turnpike near the tennis courts. We accept SNAP EBT and double your withdrawal up to $10/week with Health Bucks. WIC and Seniors FMNP coupons are welcome at the farm stands.
