BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — Though its film credentials may not hold up to a fact check, a pizzeria in Bed-Stuy's margarita slice has caught the eye of one of the city's top food critics.

The pizza slice at Rocco Pizza III on Dekalb Avenue was named one of Eater food critic Robert Sietsema's "18 Favorite Pizza Slices" in the city.

The list specifically ranked pizza joints where New Yorkers can grab an individual slice.

"Though the city is awash in pizza styles ... the neighborhood slice, unpretentious yet innovative, remains New York City’s default style," Sietsema writes. "So join me gazing into the alluring glass case at any neighborhood pizzeria in town, as I make an idiosyncratic selection of slices that are more than worth giving a try."

At Rocco's, Sietsema praised a combination of fresh mozzarella and thick crust, which is served up with an 1980s atmosphere.

He noted that the shop is often thought to be the one portrayed in Spike Lee's "Do The Right Thing," though that doesn't seem to be true.

A total of six Brooklyn pizza joints made it to the list of primo slices, including two Southern Brooklyn spots, Danny's in Williamsburg and two different pizzerias named Sal's.

Here's what the food critic had to say about Rocco's:

"I’ve heard it said that this pizzeria is the one portrayed in Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing, but a check not long ago disproves that assertion (the film location was a freshly constructed set). Yet, the Bed-Stuy location is correct, and the place has the right late ’80s vibe. The pizzas are better than they need to be, including this spare margherita slice, with fresh mozzarella and a crust a little thicker than most neighborhood slices."
