Bedford CSD Recognized as a Best Community for Music Education

It is the second year in a row the district has received this national honor

For the second year in a row, Bedford Central School District has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 25th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Bedford Central School District provided detailed background information about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.

“In BCSD, we continue to show our community that we value the Performing Arts,” said Matt Vanacoro, the district’s Music and Performing Arts Coordinator. “This award confirms what our community has told us again and again: Bedford is a place that values the artist, creator and musician. Our highest-achieving students are also exemplary performers. It is not an accident; it is by design.”
