BEDFORD, NY — Members of the Bedford Planning Board are going on a little excursion Friday. It's a field trip to see two properties with requests before the board.

The first is the Buxton Gorge Subdivision on Buxton Road. The Owner/Applicant is Lakeover Development, LLC. The proposal is for three parcels varying from 7 to 9 acres in size and one 56-acre parcel to be bought by the town. Conservationists and many town residents have for years wanted to preserve the gorge and develop a trail system there. The developers originally wanted to build out 22 lots. Now they hope to finalize the deal in January, using money from the town's open space fund, said Supervisor Christopher Burdick.

The second is at Bedford Village Plaza, where the owner wants to build exterior access to the roof.
The building at 460 Old Post Road in Bedford Village has all its HVAC and mechanicals on the roof, which is flat. An interior staircase is not possible, but an exterior staircase could be built that would not interfere with vehicle or pedestrian traffic and would be out of sight, behind a locked gate, according to the permit application.
