BEDFORD, NY — As one of the season's first major snowstorms of the season is bearing down on the Hudson Valley, the Town of Bedford is reminding residents that special winter parking rules are in effect.

The town's winter snow ordinance is in effect from November 15, through April 1. No vehicle should be parked on any roadway within the town between the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. If a vehicle is parked on the roadway, the owner is in violation of the Town of Bedford Code and may be subject to a summons and the vehicle could be towed or impounded at the owner's expense.

More importantly, keeping parked cars off the streets overnight can be the difference between snow-covered roads and a clear morning commute when the region's notoriously fickle weather turns treacherous.

"Please do your part in making the snow removal process a safe and expeditious mission for our town employees," officials said in the alert. "We wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season."
