POUND RIDGE, NY — The tenth annual Pound Ridge Harvest Festival promises to be an Oktoberfest, a food festival and among the biggest concert events of the season. Best of all, admission is free.

If you want to see Blues Traveler at the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, NJ, tickets are high as $342. Or you can see the blues superstars performing a free show at the Pound Ridge Harvest Festival on October 1.

Blues Traveler was formed in 1987 by frontman and famed harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, bassist Bobby Sheehan and drummer Brendan Hill. The band was part of the jam band scene of the '90s and found commercial success with hits like "Run-Around," which reached the Billboard Top Ten in 1995.

In addition to "Run-Around," fans can also expect to hear the band’s hit singles like “Hook” and “But Anyway,” along with new renditions of classic blues songs.

Just because the festival features a nationally known headliner, doesn't mean the event won't have a decidedly local flair.

The opening acts were chosen by way of a battle of the bands competition in June. The Hudson Valley musicians with a local cult following who earned their turn in the spotlight are Badger Scratch and Platinum Moon.

The Harvest Festival will highlight local merchants and the best culinary experts in town who will offer Oktoberfest-inspired offerings. Craft breweries will be on site with generous pours of local autumn beers. Wines hand-selected by the area's specialty wine shops will also be available for tasting and purchase. Food trucks will also be on-site.

The kids pavilion will feature a root beer garden (with a hot cider bar), rides, inflatables, face painting, fun games and contests.

The Pound Ridge Partnership's Harvest Festival will be on October 1, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Pound Ridge Town Park. Admission is free, but a limited number of special VIP tickets with onsite parking and special access are available here. Off-site general admission parking will be $25.

If you can't make it to the Pound Ridge Harvest Festival on October 1, tickets for the “Blues Traveler 35th Anniversary Tour” for other locations can be purchased here.
