"More work required" is what Con Edison now lists above the summary about 7,049 customers without power in Westchester County.

According to the company, at 9 a.m. there were 4,600 customers affected by Isaias-related outages in Westchester County. "The remaining outages involve particularly extensive damage and complicated restorations for individual customers."

The company is also working on outages not related to the storm, which tore through the region Aug. 4.

Bedford Town Supervisor Chris Burdick said he believed all safety issues had been addressed in his town —live wires or blocked streets where people can’t get in or out and emergency services can’t reach residents. But electricity is still off for some. And it's increasingly obvious that there's a real problem with internet and cell service.

"We have asked for resources and answers," he said.

Central Hudson has not offered, which irritated Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) and Senator Jen Metzger (D-Rosendale). Any time there is a power outage, it is extremely challenging for residents, they said, but when one occurs during a pandemic with heightened unemployment and limited resources, it’s important that Central Hudson follow the other utility companies' lead.

Given what the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting to be an “extremely active” hurricane season, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) wants Congress to investigate the length of time it took to restore power to regions like the Hudson Valley and work with utility companies on long-term solutions.
