GOLDEN'S BRIDGE, NY — Santa is offering curbside service for all the good boys and girls in town for one day only with a little help from the Golden's Bridge Fire Department.

From the Golden's Bridge Fire Department:

Santa’s coming to town! The jolly old elf will venture from the North Pole for his traditional visit to the Golden’s Bridge Firehouse on Sunday, December 18, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., when the Golden’s Bridge Fire Department hosts "Children’s Curbside with Santa Holiday Extravaganza." Have your cameras ready because Santa will chat and take photos with all children and provide them with gift bags filled with treats, candy, crafts and more. Santa’s elves will also be dishing out hot dogs, donuts, candy canes and snacks to kids and adults while they wait in their vehicles for the photo op and chat with Santa.

The popular decades-long tradition of the Golden’s Bridge Fire Department hosting a holiday party at the firehouse for children who attend Increase Miller Elementary School and who live in the Golden’s Bridge Fire District (all of Golden’s Bridge and swaths of Somers and North Salem) was adjusted to a curbside event last year due to pandemic concerns. But curbside with Santa was such a sensation with the community, that GBFD officials decided to make this year’s holiday extravaganza the second-annual curbside event, according to firefighter and holiday party event chair Steven Mines.

"Last year, we went curbside out of an abundance of caution. But we stumbled onto something new and exciting that provided a fresh take on a storied tradition at the Golden’s Bridge Firehouse. With everyone so busy during the holiday season, our first curbside event was such a hit with families because their children were able to get the full Santa experience in a safe and streamlined way, that we decided to keep it going again this year, but with some additional fun amenities," explained Mines, who said that everything, of course, is free.

"Why wait in long lines at the crowded mall for a picture with Santa when you can take your own at the Golden’s Bridge Firehouse without the wait, and where Santa’s helpers are handing out donuts, hot dogs, and gift bags – all for free?" added Mines.
