Decicco & Sons Now Open In Bedford: See Inside

BEDFORD, NY — Grocery shopping sometimes feels like a chore, but for a few lucky Westchester residents, browsing the aisles for kitchen staples is about to be as much fun as it is necessary.

DeCicco & Sons opened its tenth location to great fanfare and a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 25. The newest location is at 422 Old Post Rd, previously the site of a Key Foods Marketplace.

"We’re very excited about the location and the area, we’re pleased to finally be bringing DeCicco & Sons to Bedford,” CEO John DeCicco Jr. said Friday. "We know that our recipe works very well here in Westchester, and we look forward to becoming an integral part of the Bedford and Pound Ridge area. We believe that our focus on quality and exceptional service will resonate strongly with this community."

The 20,000-square-foot store will incorporate many of the features that have made DeCicco & Sons’ other locations local favorites with devoted fans. The store will include an on-site bar and pub, as well as a coffee bar, fresh juice bar and specialty departments, like their award-winning produce and deli departments, a meat department that features humanely raised hormone-free and antibiotic-free meats from family farms and seafood.

"As a brand, we have always focused on providing the highest quality products and exceptional customer service," Vice President Chris DeCicco said. "For the past two years, our primary focus has been keeping customers safe and making our stores accessible to all."

DeCicco & Sons garnered attention and praise for their quick response to the pandemic. The chain was one of the very first to require employees to wear masks and PPE, to install plexiglass checkout barriers, establish special shopping hours for seniors and immunocompromised individuals and was among the very first to limit the number of shoppers in-store at a time to help manage store capacity.

"In addition to building-out the pub, the kitchen, and adding all the amenities our customers have come to love, we’ve also built this store, and every store since Larchmont to meet or exceed LEED requirements,” DeCicco & Sons Director of Operations Mike Puma said. The store is also seeking approval with NYSEG for a rooftop 240KW solar array, capable of generating and matching 100% of its needs during peak summer days. The Bedford location is also pending Greenhill Platinum certification with the EPA, focusing on technology such as its natural refrigerant system.

The store's opening will bring approximately 150 new jobs to the area. “These are not just jobs, they are career opportunities at DeCicco & Sons,” explained Luisa DeCicco, Director of Human Resources for the company.
