East Meets West In New Diane Pollack Exhibit At Katonah Library

KATONAH, NY — The gallery space at the Katonah Village Library is a hidden treasure of stirring and eclectic exhibitions, and an upcoming installation keeps that tradition alive in a powerful way.

Artist Diane Pollack will be exhibiting her collection of collages which the artist describes as "a hybridization of Eastern and Western imagery" at the Katonah Village Library, from May 1 through May 31.

"My work is an exploration of personal themes and cross cultural influences," Pollack said.

"Gods, goddesses, women's work, rituals, and calligraphy are a constant part of my visual vocabulary," she added. "The pieces embrace an emotional response to life events through aesthetic and intellectual interpretations. Fine art coexists with everyday life."

An opening reception will take place on Saturday, May 4, from 5 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The original artworks will be available for purchase.

Pollack has exhibited at museums and galleries throughout New York, Connecticut and Arizona since 1977. She is a co-founder of the Drawing Studio, the Paperworks Collective (Tuscon, AZ), and serves on the curatorial committee at the Bruce S. Kershner Gallery (Fairfield, CT). Pollack is an artist member of Art/Place Gallery (Fairfield, CT), Westport Artists Collective (Westport, CT), the Ridgefield Guild of Artists (Ridgefield, CT), and Carriage Barn (New Canaan, CT).

The Katonah Village Library is located at 26 Bedford Road, in Katonah. The show will be accessible through the lower level.
