Erwin B. Henker, Long-time Bedford Fire Department Member, Dies at 101

He and his late brother were co-owners of Henker Brother Produce.

BEDFORD, NY - The Bedford community is mourning the loss of a man who was an active member of the Bedford Fire Department for 72 years.

Erwin B. Henker, 101, died March 27, 2016.

According to his obituary at Clark Associates Funeral Home, he was known as “Ernie,” and along with his brother Franz, he was co-owner of Henker Brother Produce in Bedford for many years.

Henker served as fire commissioner for 18 years and was also a member of the Bedford Farmers Club, the Bedford Historical Society and the Bedford Library.

He is survived by Helen Henker, his wife of 65 years, and a son and daughter-in-law., a brother, two grandchildren and two great-gradchildren.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, March 30 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Rd. in Katonah.

Services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31 with burial following in Banksville, NY.
