Hudson Valley Renegades Scout Sleepover

A Night of Perseverance and Baseball Magic

The Hudson Valley Renegades Scout Sleepover was a lot of fun despite heavy rains at the start of the evening and a 2-hour rain delay. While many attendees chose to leave the stadium before the game began, several contingents of scouts (including Cubs, Webelos, and various levels of Girl Scouts) stayed the course with our intrepid Scouts BSA troop.

Those who waited out the storm while enjoying dinner, snacks, dance parties, and general exploration of the stadium were treated to a great game of baseball that went into extra innings, following a rainbow that was visible across the county.

The visiting team came from behind, overcame a 3-0 lead by the home team, and walked away with a 4-3 victory. It was the best of both worlds for NY baseball fans as the teams represented the NY Yankees (Hudson Valley Renegades) and the NY Mets (Brooklyn Cyclones).

The Friday Night Fireworks ended a little before midnight. Scouts then took the field to set up tents, play catch, and enjoy a few Disney Cars shorts before the "lights out" warning sent everyone scrambling to brush their teeth and settle into their tents.

Morning brought chirping birds and a cloudless blue sky, a stark contrast to the previous evening's downpour.

Assistant Scoutmaster Deb Keesler reflected on the event, saying, "The rain delay tested our scouts' patience, but they rose to the challenge. Watching them support each other, make new friends, and ultimately enjoy an incredible game of baseball made every soggy moment worthwhile. It's nights like these that build character and create lasting memories."

The Scout Sleepover at Dutchess Stadium proved that with a positive attitude and good company, even the stormiest of beginnings can lead to unforgettable experiences.
