Katonah's Big 125th Birthday Bash Set (And Yes, There Will Be Cake)

The old town doesn't look a day over 120. Grab the family and head on down to the celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday

KATONAH, NY — It seems like just yesterday the hamlet of Katonah post office was getting its very first letter and now she's turning 125. They grow up so fast.

The Village of Katonah will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary this Saturday and you're invited to join in the festivities during the town-wide celebration marking the exact day that the first New York Central train stopped at the brand new town to deliver the mail.

The children's itinerary for the day:

  • 11 a.m. Children’s Parade & Dollhouse Wagon Parade. Starts at intersection of Allen Place & Katonah Ave.
  • Noon - 3:30 p.m. Chamber of Commerce Treasure Hunt. Clue sheets & prizes at the Info Desk at the Katonah Village Library Front Patio.
  • Noon. Free Celebratory Cupcakes from Katonah Presbyterian Church. 31 Bedford Rd.
  • 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Children's Historic Tour. Tours start at Info Desk at the Katonah Village Library Front Patio

  • 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Info Desk at the Katonah Village Library Front Patio.
  • 11:30 a.m. Dedication of official Katonah NYS Historical Marker funded by the William G. Pomeroy foundation, by Town Supervisor Ellen Calves, Assemblyman Chris Burdick and other elected officials. At the gazebo.
  • Noon. Church Bells & Fire House Ring in Celebration.
  • ALL DAY: Katonah Stories & Historic Homes. Look for signs throughout town.
  • Noon - 3 p.m. Katonah Historic Museum Exhibit. 2nd Floor of Katonah Village Library.
  • Noon - 3 p.m. Craft with the Katonah Museum of Art. Craft table outside the Katonah Village Library, at the base of the stairs.
  • Noon - 3 p.m. Centennial Movie. 53-min. film will repeat hourly. Katonah Village Library Garden Room.
  • 12:30 p.m. Stepping Stones Landmark Tour. Cake & coffee; tour starts at 1 p.m. Advanced reservations required by calling 914-232-4822, by email, or through website.
  • Noon - 3 p.m. "Black History in Bedford" exhibit. Katonah Village Library meeting room, lower level.
  • 12:15 p.m./2:30 p.m. Historic District Tour. Starts at Info Desk at Katonah Village Library Front Patio.

  • 3 p.m. Katonah Village Improvement Society 5K Plaque Dedication. Eastern end of the greenway on Parkway at Bedford.
