Lewisboro Horsemen's Country Pace Is Sunday

Associated Bridle Trails Fall Pace Series continues this Sunday, October 4, at Ward Pound Ridge with LHA Hunter Pace

The Associated Bridle Trails Fall Pace Series continues this Sunday, October 4 at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation when the Lewisboro Horsemen's Association will hold its annual Fall Hunter Pace. Ribbons will be awarded from first to tenth place in each of four divisions with recipients also earning points towards trophies in the Fall Pace Series, which this year includes hunter paces in Putnam, Bedford, Greenwich, Middlebury, Newtown and Sleepy Hollow.

The Reservation is always beautiful in the fall, and this is the second year that attendees will have the benefit of the repair and repaving that the park's roadways and parking lots have undergone-an enormous transformation making trailering in and out a welcoming experience.

Coffee, fruit and donuts will be served in the morning for early riders.  A sneak peek at some of the items that will be in the annual "Muck Bucket" raffle is available on the Lewisboro Horsemen's Association Facebook page. In addition, vendors from Gossett Brothers Farmer's Market and other vendors will be on hand during the day.

Entrance fees include a hot buffet lunch prepared by the Horse & Hound Inn and admission to the park for one tow vehicle and trailer. Lunch is also available for non-riders. There is a $10 discount for pre-registration (ten dollars will be added to entrants on the day of the event). Start times will be from 8 AM to 12 noon, with lunch served from 11 AM to 2 PM, and the awards ceremony will be at 2 PM. The divisions are Hunt, Pleasure, Junior (at least one rider 18 or under), and Western (at least one Western rider). Teams may have 2 or 3 riders. Riders under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Now celebrating its 25th season, the Lewisboro Horsemen's Association continues to develop and maintain over 25 miles of trails throughout Lewisboro. The organization holds events throughout the year, including its Spring Poker Run, a Holiday Party and family barbecues in the summer, as well as trail cleanup days and educational seminars. LHA members receive a discount on the pace registration fee. Trail Membership is $55 per year for an individual and $65 per family. Supporting membership for those who do not own horses but want to support the trail system is $30. Juniors are encouraged to join. Directions and the pace registration form are available at Association's website, www.lhatrails.org. For more information on the Pace call 914-763-5402 or e-mail [email protected].
