Local trailblazing teen earns Eagle Rank

Trailblazing teen completes ambitious cemetery project earning the Eagle Scout Rank

Katherine O., a founding member of Troop 301 Katonah/Lewisboro, accomplished a remarkable feat by earning the prestigious Eagle Scout rank just one day before her 18th birthday.

After two years of dedicated planning and hard work since earning her Life rank, Katherine completed her ambitious project and met all the requirements for Scouting's highest honor.

With her sights set on benefiting a local cemetery, Katherine reached out to numerous sites before finding the perfect opportunity at the historic Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY. Her project involved constructing an informative kiosk that highlights the cemetery's 200-year legacy and educates visitors about veterans and notable individuals laid to rest there, including Margaret R. Barker WW2 Woman's Army Corp. cryptographer, Sybil Ludington, the "Female Paul Revere," and Angel Wallenda of "The Flying Wallendas" fame.

In a touching moment at the first troop meeting following her Eagle Board of Review, Katherine's twin sister Julia, also an Eagle Scout, proudly presented her with the coveted Eagle neckerchief.

As they prepare to embark on their next adventure—college—a formal Eagle Court of Honor is planned to celebrate Katherine and Julia's remarkable achievement, marking a significant milestone in their scouting journey and setting the stage for future successes.
