Obituary: Allen 'Bunky' Lawrence Burbank

Burbank was a veteran, longtime firefighter, business leader and lifelong Bedford Hills and Katonah resident and 'gramps' to his grandkids.

Obituary from the family of Allen Burbank

BEDFORD HILLS, NY — Allen (Bunky) Lawrence Burbank, a lifelong resident of Bedford Hills and Katonah, died on May 27th. He was 89.

Allen was born on February 26th, 1932 in Mt. Kisco to Doris Lindeman Burbank and Clement Everett Burbank. He was a graduate of Clarkson University with a degree in civil engineering.
Allen served in the US Army in Orleans, France. He was a troop leader and chairman of the Bedford Hills Boy Scouts and a 65-year member of the Bedford Hills Fire Department.

Allen, a consummate worker, builder and engineer, took over his father’s business now known as Bedford Stone & Masonry Supply Corp. in Bedford Hills. He took great pride in the 5th generation family-owned business which he had owned for more than 50 years.

Allen was married to Myrna Reynolds Burbank, also of Bedford Hills, for 64 years. She sadly predeceased him in November of 2019.

He is survived by his son David Burbank, daughters Daryl Burbank-Wear, husband Sam Wear, Donna Burbank-Scambos, husband Jack Scambos, Diane Tomlinson, husband Kelvin Tomlinson, his beloved grandchildren Colin, Lukas and Hannah Wear, Madeline and Kate Burbank, Callie Scambos-Graham, husband Scott, Trevor and Greer Scambos, Peter Tomlinson, wife Maggie, Shea Frost, husband Seth and Emily Tomlinson. He was "Gramps" to his great grandchildren Ellie, Sullivan, Everett, and Janey Tomlinson, and Theo and Cameron Graham. He is also survived by his sister-in-law June Bourne. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Burbank of Brattleboro, Vt. and his daughter-in-law Kristina Jagger Burbank.

Allen was an honorable man of great strength, work ethic, intelligence and incredible wit. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him in the community.

A private family service will be held.
