Obituary: Myrna R. Burbank, 83, Of Bedford Hills

She was president of the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps during the 1980s.

Myrna R. Burbank, age 83, of Bedford Hills passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at her home. Myrna was born Nov. 20, 1935, in Mt. Kisco, and was the daughter of the late Donald Reynolds and Imogene Pennie Reynolds.

Myrna was an avid volunteer throughout her life. She was president of the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps during the 1980s. She was instrumental in the construction of the current building which doubled the size of the original aluminum structure. She enjoyed years of volunteering in the emergency room at Northern Westchester Hospital and chairing local Cancer Fund Drives. She was a masterfully skilled doodler and artist.

Her vibrant personality transitioned into a love of travel. Myrna and her husband Allen adventured to Alaska, New Zealand, Antarctica, Antigua, among other destinations.

Myrna would help out at the family business, Bedford Stone and Masonry Supply Corp., throughout the years.

Myrna is survived by her husband of 64 years, Allen L. Burbank, son David Burbank, daughters Daryl Burbank-Wear, husband Sam Wear, Donna Burbank-Scambos, husband Jack Scambos, and Diane Tomlinson, husband Kelvin Tomlinson, her beloved grandchildren to whom she was “Mema”: Colin, Lukas and Hannah Wear, Madeline and Kate Burbank, Callie Scambos-Graham, husband Scott Graham, Trevor and Greer Scambos, Peter Tomlinson, wife Maggie, Shea Frost, husband Seth, and Emily Tomlinson. She dearly loved her five great grandchildren Ellie, Sullivan and Everett Tomlinson, Theo and Cameron Graham. She is also survived by her dear sister June Bourne. She was predeceased by her brother Donald Reynolds and her daughter in law Kristina Jagger Burbank. Myrna’s spirited nature will be missed by all.

Myrna’s greatest joy in life was undoubtedly her family.

A memorial gathering will be arranged in the Spring of 2020 at the Bedford Union Cemetery, Bedford, NY. Donations, if so desired, can be made to the Katonah Bedford Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
