Paul Shaffer's Westchester Home Sold For $2.35M

The band leader from "Late Night with David Letterman" received less than the asking price for the 4958-sq.ft., gated home on eight acres.

"The house has been so good to us," Shaffer told reporters. "We raised our kids here. Now they're gone, we're empty nesters, and we have to chase them out west."

BEDFORD, NY — If you've had your eye on Paul Shaffer's four-bedroom Colonial on Cedar Hill Road in Bedford's Middle Patent Estate area, which hit the market recently for the first time in 33 years, you're too late.

Property records reveal that the home was sold earlier this month for $2.35 million, which is less than its original asking price of $2.75 million, when first put on the market in January 2024.

The listing, by Frances M. Torres of Houlihan Lawrence, described the property as being "set on a sprawling private 8 acre landscape of vibrant greenery and adorned with majestic mature trees" offering a "plethora of features that exude comfortable country living."

According to the listing, the 4-bedroom, 4.5-bath, 4,958-sq.-ft. house, originally built in 1968, but renovated in 2015, has an outdoor space that is a "haven of relaxation and entertainment," with a heated gunite saltwater pool, a jacuzzi, a tennis/basketball court, and a three-car garage.

The interior of the house offers a fireplace, expansive windows with views of the large backyard, a finished studio with a spa-like bath and sauna, a great room with a vaulted ceiling and a wall of windows, and a library with floor-to-ceiling shelves and a rolling ladder. A chef's kitchen contains "top-of-the-line" appliances, including two ovens with a warming drawer, and a custom range hood.

Houlihan Lawrence added that "enveloped in a country setting, this property offers a peaceful sanctuary away from the bustle of city life, while remaining minutes from the charming towns of Bedford and Greenwich."

"The house has been so good to us," Shaffer told Gimme Shelter, according to the NY Post. "We raised our kids here. Now they're gone, we're empty nesters, and we have to chase them out west."

The celebrity musician purchased the home for $680,000 in 1991.

Annual taxes are estimated to be $44,652, and the property is zoned for the Bedford school district.
