BEDFORD, NY — The 2024 budget and school board vote is May 21, and two seats are up for election on the Bedford Central School District Board of Education.

The proposed spending plan of $155,825,000 is 2.15 percent higher than the current budget.

The tax levy is expected to rise 2.95 percent.

District officials said that the budget would support: instruction, general support, transportation, and undistributed.

Superintendent Rob Glass noted that the budget "concludes a responsibly managed phase-out of federal COVID funding, maintains outstanding average class sizes, sustains mission, success plan and programs, including our focus on literacy and the Science of Reading, maintains student choice and opportunity, commits to sustained realignment and right-sizing."

Two, three-year board seats will be up for election.

Candidates running include: Steven Matlin (incumbent) and Lisa Mitchell.
