Prior to the Board of Education meeting, the District hosted a reception for Dr. Blanch and his wife Sue. There was a neighborliness at the gathering, underscoring the fact that Dr. Blanch was coming from a District only a few miles away.

"Dr. Blanch comes to us with an extensive background as a superintendent, both in Colorado and at the Somers School District," said School Board President Julia Hadlock. "During our conversations, the Board was incredibly impressed by his care for students, and his insistence on having student voice be part of the decisions that happen in a district."

Hadlock said that the Board also noted areas that are important to the Katonah-Lewisboro Schools in which Dr. Blanch had direct experience. "His vision is inclusive," said Hadlock, "giving all students, throughout their education, opportunities to explore what they can do and how far they can go."

"The Board has made an excellent choice," said Superintendent Andrew Selesnick. "Ray and I have worked closely for nine years at our local Chief School Administrators meetings. I know he will take the work we have done here and move it forward."

"Our children are the future," said Dr. Blanch. "We will be sure they are prepared to take on any whatever challenges may come their way."
