Services Set For Lauren Svendsen, 41

The North Salem teacher was killed Tuesday, May 15 when a tree fell on her car during a severe thunderstorm.

NORTH SALEM, NY — Funeral services for Lauren June Svendsen, 41, the teacher who was killed Tuesday, May 15 during a rash of tornadoes in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 21 at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White St. in Danbury, CT.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 22 at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 21 Brush Hill Rd. in New Fairfield. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the church.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Svendsen is survived by Bruce and Kathy (Newman) Svendsen, her sons Colin Gardner and Erik Kubel, her fiancé Matt Kubel and her brothers Scott, Timothy and Christopher Svendsen.

She worked as an art teacher at North Salem Middle/High School.

Svendsen was an All-American Eastern Conference Softball player at WestConn and in her younger years also enjoyed dancing, horseback riding and Tae Kwon Do.
