Showers, Thunderstorms Forecast For Week In Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for much of the Hudson Valley this week. The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather outlooks for the region.

While there is no risk of hazardous weather for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties for Monday, there is slight risk for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday across the entire forecast area. Damaging winds will be possible.

There is also a chance of thunderstorms Thursday through Saturday.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester, a cold front will bring isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon into evening. Some storms could be strong to severe, and while large hail cannot be ruled out, damaging wind gusts will be the more likely threat, the weather service said.

Here is the forecast through the week for northern Westchester from the National Weather Service:

• Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 4pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. West wind around 8 mph.
• Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 68. Light and variable wind.
• Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Light west wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
• Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.
• Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 79. Northwest wind around 8 mph.
• Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
• Thursday: A chance of showers between 8am and 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Thursday Night: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66.
• Friday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 84.
• Friday Night: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65.
