POUND RIDGE, NY — On the Monday night episode of American Idol (Season 6, Episode 8), local teen Kaylin Hedges sang Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now" with Tyson Venegas, and there was ample evidence that the judges were impressed.

The duets episode was filmed during part two of Hollywood Week. Hedges and Venegas previously won Platinum Tickets during their auditions and were able to skip the first round which aired Sunday night.

As the first Platinum Ticket winner of the season, Venegas chose fellow Platinum Ticket winner Hedges as his duet partner, he said in part because of her great personality and because he thought she was someone he "could vibe with."

15-year-old Hedges and 16-year-old Venegas called themselves "The Shenanigans" for their performance together.

Before the duet began, the judges (Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan) said they were excited to see what the performance of two Platinum Ticket holders would be like.

They weren't let down. The cameras zoomed in on the faces of the judges showing that they were clearly impressed.

The moms of the performers nervously watched together in the audience and embraced each other at the end.

Bryan and Richie gave the duo a standing ovation, along with the audience. Perry remained seated, looking stunned by what she had just witnessed.

"I had no idea," Richie exclaimed afterwards. "The two of you together complemented each other perfectly and giving us amazing vocals. Katy has given us chills on her leg. That's what you're seeing over there in the corner."

Bryan even took out his cell phone during the performance to capture goosebumps on Perry's arm.

"Literally, he had to get his phone out because he had to do a video," Perry attested. "I had full body chills."

The judges decided that both Hedges and Venegas would be heading to the next round, "Showstoppers."
