Fatal-And-Hit And Run: Arrest Made After 3 Flee Crash: Police

A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday in Brentwood and an arrest was made Friday, Suffolk County police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A man was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Brentwood on Monday, Suffolk police said.

Manuel Gomez, 46, of Brentwood, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an incident involving a fatality, police said.

Gomez is being held overnight at the Third Precinct and is slated to be arraigned at First District
Court in Central Islip on Saturday, police said.

Eloy Khammach La Cruz Andres, 31, of Brentwood, was riding a motorcycle northbound on Wick Road on Monday when a 2008 Ford Explorer heading southbound made a left turn in front of the motorcycle at around 7:22 p.m., police said.

The motorcyclist hit the Explorer and was then thrown from the motorcycle which caught fire as a result of the collision, police said.

Gomez was one of three men who exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Khammach La Cruz Andres was taken via ambulance to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.
