New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA) partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island (BBBSLI) to host a Long Island Freight Railroad Tour.
The event was hosted by BBBSLI Leadership Council member Marlon Taylor, VP of New York & Atlantic Railway. He educated our “Bigs” and “Littles” on the rich history of railroads and how they revolutionized everyday life. This interactive experience shed light on industries such as engineering, freight conducting, and administration- allowing our Littles to be exposed to future career possibilities.

“This visit and the behind-the-scenes tour of NYA’s operation is a perfect way to show young people different careers and opportunities in the railroading industry,” said Marlon Taylor.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters Long Island is to provide young people facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported 1-to-1 relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. The organization matches youths between the ages of 7 and 14 with volunteer mentors ages 18 and over.

“It is important to show the young people in our program that their lives are full of different opportunities and choices. We encourage them to advance their education, and identify careers that are fulfilling for them.
