Brentwood HS Graduate Gets NYA Scholarship

New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA) Scholarship creates awareness and opportunities in the railroad industry.

July 16, 2018; Brentwood, NY - New York & Atlantic Railway (NYA) announced today its second annual Scholarship Award winners. NYA Vice President Marlon Taylor and NYA Manager of Marketing Support Amy Louk congratulated Brentwood High School graduate Andrea Jones upon her acceptance of the prestigious academic award.

This year, NYA awarded four scholarships recognizing outstanding graduating high school seniors. The scholarships are geared towards those students who plan to study in any applied technical field.
"We are honored to work within the local community to recognize these impressive students. Their passion for learning and being engaged in their school is inspiring. We look forward to watching them become industry leaders of tomorrow," said James Bonner, New York & Atlantic Railway President.

Students who plan to attend a four-year college, two-year college, trade or technical school were eligible to apply. Applications were reviewed based on three criteria which include essay quality, course of study and anticipated impact.

New York & Atlantic Railway began operation in May 1997 as result of the privatized concession to operate freight trains on the lines owned by Long Island Rail Road. The railway serves a diverse customer base and shares track with the densest passenger system in the United States.
