BRENTWOOD, NY— A Long Island native will be on big and little screens Friday opposite major Hollywood stars like Angelina Jolie. Medina Senghore grew up in Brentwood and has a major role in the thriller "Those Who Wish Me Dead," opening in theaters and on HBO Max this weekend.

Senghore plays the pregnant wife of a sheriff pursued by bad guys and a Montana forest fire. Film review website Film School Rejects says of her character: "Allison is warm, capable, and arguably the most engaging character in 'Those Who Wish Me Dead' to the point that it’s her fate viewers will be most invested in."

The movie casts Jolie as a parachuting firefighter and action lead. Senghore told Good Morning America that she enjoyed playing a strong female character in a film with more than one strong woman portrayed.

Senghore is also known for her role on the dark comedy series "Happy!" She has a chemical engineering degree and a Harvard law degree and worked as a patent lawyer before exploring acting. She told the New York Times that she grew up in a diverse household: "My father is from the Gambia and a Muslim, and my mom grew up in a traditionally Christian household."
