Suffolk Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Sedan On New Year's Day

BRENTWOOD, NY — Police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit and killed in Brentwood in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

A 19-year-old Brentwood driver was heading south on Islip Avenue in a 2009 Infiniti sedan when he hit a man who was crossing the street, Suffolk County police said. The crash happened near Lemon Street around 1:40 a.m.

The pedestrian was declared dead at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. His name wasn't immediately released.

The driver was not hurt. The sedan was impounded for a safety check
