Children's author, Kevin J. Heinz, visited students at Alfano Elementary School to share his stories and influences that inspired him created his many children's books. The author's visit is one in a myriad of literacy activities during PARP, (Parents as Reading Partners) month, to help promote and create a love of reading for students.

Bio:
  Critically acclaimed and local author Brian Heinz from Wading River, Long Island has written over 15 children's book including Red Fox at McCloskey's Farm, Nanuk:  Lord of the Ice and The Great North Woods to name a few.  As a child Brian has been fascinated by the natural world and his books try to capture the majesty of the animals in their environment.   His research has taken him to the alligator nests deep in the Okefenokee Swamp to the rainforests of Puerto Rico to the Cheyenn River Canyon.   We are happy to welcome Brian Heinz, Elementary Science Teacher of the year, Booklist Editor's choice for The Wolves and International Board on Books for Young People Silver Medalist for Cheyenne Medicine Hat, to our school.
