CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – Central Islip High School senior Chris Hidalgo is one lucky guy.

He's been named a Gates Scholar after being awarded a scholarship that will cover his his tuition, books, food and housing from the Gates Scholarship Program launched by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, News12 reported.

Hidalgo was one of 750 students chosen from more than 53,000 scholarship hopefuls, News12 said.

According to the outlet, he started “screaming” at the top of his lungs when he received the news and called the scholarship "life changing."

News12 said he "hopes" to study computer science and may attend Stony Brook University.
