BRENTWOOD, NY — The escalating opioid epidemic is wreaking havoc on Long Island, where more than 400 Suffolk County residents died from the scourge in 2022. To combat the crisis, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office is hosting its first fentanyl summit in Brentwood on Wednesday, May 29.

Law enforcement officials and families affected by the fentanyl crisis will gather at Suffolk County Community College's Van Nostrand Theatre in Brentwood from 12:30 to 5 p.m.; officials will provide information about the fentanyl epidemic and the current state of affairs at the local, state, and federal levels, the DA said.

The summit will also allow community members to ask panelists, law enforcement, and members of the Medical Examiner’s Office questions about fentanyl and the overdose crisis.
