Islip Fire Department Holds 143rd Installation Dinner

Islip Fire Department members were awarded for their dedication to serving the people of Long Island.

ISLIP, NY — Members of the Islip Fire Department were honored for their dedication at its 143rd Annual Installation Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Hauppauge on May 2.

While members were honored and awards were given out, the department also bid farewell to outgoing Chief Alden Schroeder and outgoing company captains from 2022 and 2023.

According to the fire department, it's comprised of 120 proud volunteers who provide fire protection and emergency medical care to over 30,000 residents in the area and thousands who travel daily. Within the 7.6-square-mile response area, there are over 6,500 privates homes, 200 various commercial businesses, two major roadways and numerous marinas that require service from the fire department around 1,200 times per year.

While the Islip crew took a night off, Bay Shore Fire Department and the East Islip Fire Department provided standby crews during the event.

"We would also like to thank our neighbors in the allowing our members to enjoy their evening while ensuring that our district was protected," the fire department said in a Facebook post.
