BRENTWOOD, NY — A unique restaurant has opened this year on Long Island: Serving a fusion menu with halal Pakistani food and Latin-American cuisine, La Estacion is located in the former Brentwood Long Island Rail Road station.

La Estacion, which means station in Spanish, has indoor and outdoor seating and a diverse menu. The building, at 22 1st Avenue in Brentwood, was the LIRR station from 1905 until 1987, before sitting empty and vacant until 2006 when it became a solar-powered cafe. According to Newsday, after the cafe closed in 2009, the site was once again boarded up and vacant, until 2018 when the current owners took over.

The restaurant bills itself as "family-owned."
