Pedestrian Killed In Brentwood Car Crash: Police

A man walking across the street in Brentwood was hit and killed by the driver of an SUV Wednesday night, police say.

BRENTWOOD, NY — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a man driving an SUV in Brentwood Wednesday night, according to Suffolk County police.

A 54-year-old man was crossing 5th Avenue at Kirk Road in Brentwood when he was struck by Kelvin Hernandez, 28, of Bay Shore, who was driving a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder northbound around 10:30 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian, whose name is being withheld his next of kin is notified, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Hernandez was not injured, police said.
