Suffolk County Executive Bellone Announces Manufacturing Job Fair

Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center Holds Job Fair at the Long Island Cares Community Engagement Center

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone yesterday announced that the One-Stop Employment Center will host a Job Fair on Tuesday, September 14 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Long Island Cares Community Engagement Center located at 75 Davids Drive in Hauppauge.

The 3-hour job fair included 28 manufacturing companies that are located across Long Island. As a part of recovering from the pandemic, and returning to employment normalcy, this is a vital first step to offer Suffolk County Residents an opportunity to discover the depth of opportunity the Manufacturing Technology Industry has to offer.

"Manufacturing has always been an essential sector on Long Island," said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. "Aerospace, Defense, Transportation, Biotech, and Food producers remained in operation, providing high quality jobs to Suffolk County residents throughout the pandemic. Tomorrow's job fair is the latest opportunity for our residents to find quality, good paying jobs as we work to fully recover from COVID-19."

Rosalie Drago, Suffolk County Commissioner of Labor Licensing and Consumer Affairs said: "If you think of yourself as being good with your hands, if you enjoy problem solving, if you're technologically inclined – there is an opportunity for a job and career advancement."

Terri Alessi-Miceli, President and CEO of HIA-LI said: "While many Long Islanders may not recognize it, traditional manufacturing comprises a major proportion of our regional economy. And remember, too, that when entrepreneurs set up shop as manufacturers, they've made a serious capital commitment and they're in it for the long run. For local residents, that means that attending this job fair can open up opportunities for long-term employment, often at very good pay."
