Suffolk County Sprays Aerial Mosquito Larvicide Into Marshes
The spraying will take place Tuesday through Thursday. Read on to see which marshes will be affected.
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Summer is here, which means mosquitos are too and the Suffolk County Department of Public Works Division of Vector Control is treating parts of Long Island marshes by helicopter to control mosquito larvae.
The application runs Tuesday, July 9, through Thursday, July 11, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., the county announced Monday.
Should weather conditions prevent completion of the work, it will be continued on the next suitable day, a release said.

The pesticides, VectoPrime FG [Bti (Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis) and Altosid (Methoprene)], will be distributed via a low-altitude helicopter and with granular application.
The following marshes are listed below. Marshes that will be treated are marked “Yes.” Marshes marked “Pending” will be rechecked on Wednesday and may be added, if required.
