But his dedication to helping others persevered and Moon's heart, liver, lungs and kidneys saved lives in the wake of his passing.

Two people who received his organs were retired members of the FDNY, officials said, calling it a "final act of selflessness that forever reflects his enduring legacy of service."

Beyond his firefighting duties, he mentored firefighters as part of the Islip Wolves Racing Team where he fostered a culture of "excellence and unity," officials said.

The street renaming ceremony will take place Sunday, June 23 at 11 a.m., at the intersection of Franklin Street and Webster Avenue in Islip.

Moon's family and friends will be joined by Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, town board members, locals officials and members of the FDNY and Islip Fire Department.
