Woman Left Injured Pit Bull With No Water, Shelter: SPCA

The senior pit bull, Grumpy, was found left in the yard of a home unable to walk with untreated injuries, the SPCA said.

BRENTWOOD, NY - A Brentwood woman was charged on Tuesday with failing to provide food, water and veterinary care to her senior pit bull, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.

Crystal Booker, 26, was charged with one count of failure to provide proper sustenance to her dog named Grumpy, the SPCA said.

Grumpy was left for several days in the yard of a Middle Island home, unable to stand or walk, with open sores and untreated infections, according to the SPCA.

He was also left in direct sun with no shelter or water, the SPCA said.

The dog was removed and transported to Brookhaven animal shelter.

Booker is schedule to appear in First District Court on October 22, 2019.
