A Bear's Picnic on Broadway

A Brooklyn cafe creates culinary comfort for the community

In the ever-expanding entity that is New York City, being personable and modern, while still providing quality service becomes more difficult. Enter: City Bear. One of Brooklyn’s newer cafés is vying to bridge the gap between rooted tradition and new trends. City Bear vows to provide a haven dedicated to the masses who seek to eat and imbibe in an all-encompassing environment. They deliver a lovely interior using undertones of décor reflective of the homey days of urban yore to create a casually artistic vibe with an informally upscale air.

Founder and owner, Steven Delgado, wishes to serve his community by advocating modernism, while still catering to tradition. Brooklyn native or newcomer, all are accepted and treated with equal respect at City Bear. Steven named his brainchild after his boyhood nickname “Teddy” and encapsulates the “spread love” mentality of Brooklyn.

As a Brooklyn native himself, with over twelve years of experience at reputable institutions including Harlem’s Red Rooster and Manhattan’s Fitzpatrick Hotel under his belt, Delgado knows how to appeal to the ranged tastes of Brooklynites. Sit at the beautifully hand-crafted bar to enjoy a red-eye and a bowl of creamy grits with shrimp. Relax in the lounge with a glass of Clovis, a seductive French red, and a whimsically delicious blueberry grilled cheese. Aspiring musician or comedian? Check out City Bear’s open mic, taking place every Thursday or comedy night every Wednesday. City Bear attracts all varieties of palates.
