SUNSET PARK, NY — A Sunset Park eatery was among five to earn an annual nod from Eater on account of its comforting Malaysian fare.

Hainan Chicken House, located on 8th Avenue near 48th Street, is known for its Hainan chicken — but Eater editors say a specials menu is the real reason to come back time and time again.

Specials have included a rose chiffon cake with lychee-champagne jam and yellowtail fish curry, Eater reported.

"Hainanese chicken rice, in all its variations, is the star at this Sunset Park restaurant," the owners wrote on the eatery's website.

It's not the first major recognition for the eatery. The New York Times featured the restaurant in July, and Infatuation named the restaurant one of the city's best new spots this year.

"When our family started this small restaurant 6 months ago our main goal was putting out quality versions of our favorite dishes, consistently," the restaurant's owners said in an Instagram post.

"So unexpected, grateful, and giddy over this," the owners said of the New York Times feature.

Other restaurants to earn an Eater nod included Superiority Burger, Hyderabadi Zaiqa, Libertine and Mama Yoshi Mini Mart. Hainan Chicken House was specifically chosen as a place to return to.
