Brooklyn 'Mom Hero' Inspires Kids, Grandkids: Meet Dolores Guncay!

BROOKLYN, NY— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My Mom is extra special, [and] coming to this country wasn’t easy for her. Not knowing the people or the language, but she still manages to lift herself up ... My mom is very special to me. She is my best friend,my everything, and I love her and admire her so much. To this day, she keeps being the mom hero for myself and my two brothers and now her two grandsons.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

My mother has worked very hard for her goals and still is. She deserves it.
