BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn-based comedian died Wednesday, days after he was in an e-bike crash, his friends announced.

Kenny DeForest — known for his stand-up and appearances on Comedy Central and late-night shows — died surrounded by his loved ones at Kings County Hospital, friend and comedian Ryan Beck.

"Kenny's final moments included some of his favorite songs, stories of his childhood, and memories of his extensive positivity and joy for life," Beck wrote on a GoFundMe page that had raised over $174,900 in just four days.

Little remained known about the crash that claimed DeForest's life, first reported by Springfield News-Leader. His loved ones initially said DeForest was struck by a vehicle on Friday, but amended the GoFundMe to say he "was in an e-bike accident."

"We’ve learned more information today from an EMS report. Kenny was on an e-bike and crashed. I spoke with crossing guards at the area today, and am still in search of more information," Beck said in a statement to Deadline.

DeForest was rushed to Kings County Hospital for brain surgery to treat a brain bleed, according to the GoFundMe.

Police could not confirm the details of DeForest's death, but said there was an e-bike crash Friday in Crown Heights that sent a 37-year-old male to NYC Health and Hospitals/Kings County about 8:45 a.m.

The man was riding a CitiBike when he crashed into an unoccupied parked car, police said.

Many remembered DeForest as a talented comedian and loving friend.

"Kenny DeForest was an absolute sweetheart of a guy. He was obviously funny but that’s not important. I’ve known Kenny about as long as I’ve known anyone in this silly business, and it was always an absolute pleasure to be in his company," said comedian Corey Ryan Forrester.

Bank remembered DeForest as a kind and giving friend.

"He’s a good person. He really cared about others, their well-being, and their dreams. Thank you for being my friend, and making me a better man," Bank said.
