Long Island Music Hall of Fame is accepting submissions from Brooklyn, Nassau, Queens and Suffolk through May 13th

The Long Island Music Hall of Fame is Now Accepting 2019 Scholarship and Grant Applications – Student Scholarships and School Recognition Program Deadline is May 13th.

Melville, NY - The Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHoF) has announced that it is now accepting applications for their scholarship programs.

LIMHoF Scholarships/Grants programs provide funding opportunities across Brooklyn, Nassau, Queens and Suffolk. Each is designed to further opportunities to celebrate music across Long Island. In addition to their long-standing scholarships for high school seniors, the 2019 program is expanding to include awards for educators, school programs and performers that are contributing to the current Long Island music scene.

“We are thrilled to kick-off our 2019 scholarship season and to add a new category to our grant program that supports working musicians. We are committed to our mission, which includes not only celebrating Long Island’s rich musical heritage, but also supporting music education for future generations” stated Ernie Canadeo, Chairman of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame Board.

2019 categories include: Student Scholarships, School Recognition Program Grants, the Educator of Note Award, and the new Outside the Box Working Musicians Grant. Due dates are:

Student Scholarships – Applications Due*: May 13th, 2019

School Recognition Program Grants – Applications Due*: May 13th, 2019

Educator of Note Award – Applications Due: September 30*, 2019

Outside the Box (Working Musicians Grant) – Applications Due*: August 1, 2019

*All applications must be postmarked by the application due date to be accepted.

LIMHoF will be awarding five $500 scholarships to graduating students for 2019. Deadline for application is May 13th. These will provide funding for graduating Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn and Queens high school students who have shown an interest in pursuing a music career. The LIMHOF Education Committee will base selections on the completed application and the following:

  • 400 to 500-word essay on education and career goals
  • High school transcript
  • Letter of recommendation from an individual who can attest to the applicant’s commitment to a music career
