The last time Richmond Center residents were together for a New Year’s Eve celebration was in 2019 when they all rang in the year 2020. Now two years later, New Year’s Eve 2021 brought smiles on the faces of residents as they looked forward to 2022. The goal by the facility's Recreation Department, led by Director Irina Zapolskaya, was just that....making sure the residents had a great time. They definitely did.

Resident Lisa Spadafora is always the life of the party.

At the large 372-bed facility on Tompkins Avenue here on Staten Island, a New Year Day Social was in order and the Recreation team made the evening festive as the spirit of the holidays had everyone feeling good. The residents toasted 2022 with delicious sparking white and red grape juice, of course in lieu of champagne, and they also enjoyed a wine and almond cake. It was a time for residents to smile and laugh and they talked about New Years Eves of the past.

The lovely Charlotte Cohen had a wonderful time

Although most were in bed when midnight rolled around, watching the ball drop wasn’t important. What was important was the enjoyment of the night before with everybody being together. That was priceless.
