BROOKLYN, NY — A late-summer subway snarl could be awaiting straphangers in Brooklyn.

Two train lines will experience temporary changes starting Monday as the MTA begins major accessibility improvements at the Church Avenue station in Flatbush, MTA officials warned.

Transit officials announced that Brighton Beach-bound B trains and Coney Island-bound Q trains will not stop at Church Avenue starting Monday and lasting until the end of summer.

The change in service will give the MTA time to perform necessary accessibility upgrades and construction projects within the station.

The MTA announced that the project will involve installing two new elevators from the street to the platform, adding two new stairways, creating a new fare control area, and implementing ADA-compliance upgrades. Additionally, there will be enhancements to platform edges, sidewalks and agent booths.

Throughout the fall, B trains will operate on local tracks between Prospect Park and Kings Highway stations in both directions. Additionally, both B and Q trains will bypass Church Avenue on the local track.

The MTA advises that riders traveling to Church Avenue station should transfer at Beverley Road for a Manhattan-bound train. Those needing to travel from Church Avenue should transfer at Prospect Park for a Brighton Beach or Coney Island-bound train.

The express tracks will remain out of service during this period.

The construction aligns with phases two and three of the partial G train shutdown, which aims to modernize signals for better reliability.

Phase two, currently underway, runs until Aug. 12 and affects service between Court Sq. and Bedford-Nostrand Avenue. Phase three will then take place from Aug. 12 to Sept. 3, during which G trains will not run between Bedford-Nostrand Avenue and Church Avenue.
