How do you know the teacher?

She’s my daughter

What does this person teach?

Self-contained 5th grade special education

Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Shannon works with children with disabilities, mostly children who are autistic. She achieves success with these children because of her love for them, her ability to have them achieve success they never experienced because of her dedication to teach them when others have never tried.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

Shannon has been gifted to work with these children to have them experience success that for some have never had.

Her patience and deep commitment to never accepting when someone says, about her students, “Oh they can’t do that.” She has worked wonders with children who were non verbal and succeeded in getting them to not only express themselves verbally, but discover hidden talents that they were then able to share and willing to share with others. The children leave her class feeling loved and successful.
